Christine Wheeler has been tirelessly campaigning and working with our local councillors to encourage Cornwall Council to take action to support wheelchair users, and their families, in being able to access the St Ives. Christine has personal experience of the difficulties caused by a lack of ramped kerbs which enable wheelchair users to be access the pavements. Some users and their assistants find that they are unable to wheel/be pushed up drop kerbs and in many places there are no kerb access points at all. it has also been noted by many users that there are no linked up access routes for wheelchair or mobility scooter users who wish to access the town safely.

Christine, with the support of town councillor Andrew Mitchell, has already had meetings with Cornwall Council and their contractors to discuss possible options for improving this situation. We look forward to hearing more about her progress with this.
